Eight people were found dead in the broiling trailer, and one died later at an area hospital, according to The Associated Press. The U.S. Attorney’s Office told the San Antonio Express-News on Monday morning that a 10th person had died.
The news came as the big rig’s driver, James Mathew Bradley Jr. of Clearwater, Florida, faced his first federal court hearing in connection with the deadliest such human smuggling case in the U.S. in at least a decade.
